Edelbrock USA

One of the highlights of our June trip to the States was a tour through the hallowed halls of Edelbrock and we are pleased to announce that Magoos Street Rods has now secured an agency to supply & distribute Edelbrock product in New Zealand. In addition to the increased range of stock we will be carrying in the shop, our fortnightly shipments from the USA means we can fill extra orders on a very expediant basis.

Especially when they bring us something to eat! Hawera rodders Ken & Marie Kyte picked up their Magoo's built Model A chassis recently and in appreciation delivered one of Marie's creative cakes. This one was shaped as a model of the pickup truck they're building. Cheers guys!

Masterton Drags

Masterton was again host to the drags on 17/18 April and the weather was great, as was the racing.
We were pleased to be able to have the workshop and tools on hand for
American Tyler Henderson to repair his front engine dragster after breaking an engine mount.
Fingers crossed for progress on a new strip for Masterton Motorplex. As a sponsor we're keen to see it go ahead ASAP.

On the Road

With AmeriCARna down in Invercargill and Beach Hop up North, we've been hosting a number of visitors en route to these events. Likewise we're expecting more with the Street Rod Nationals and Pre-49s coming up in the next few weeks. Our adage is Magoo's is that hot rods should be driven so it is great to see so many vehicles on the road, flying the flag for the sport, and people having a good time. We try & get pics of most cars so remember to check out our Gallery pages on a regular basis for updates.

New On The Road

Keith Watt called in recently with his newly certified Model A Tourer. We've
been pleased to help Keith with a number of parts on his latest build, but
our association with this car goes back many years to when we photographed
it for a cover shot on NZ Street Rodder back in 1984. The car was cool then,
but no way near the quality of finish that Keith has incorporated into the
rebuild after he bought it from the late Harry Bradnock.
Check out Keith's tub and other customers cars on our gallery pages.

Need Something Special?

At Magoos we not only tackle full builds, we can also undertake piece
projects. Eg the pair of 34 Dodge running boards we recently built for a
customer. So if you need that special part made for your car, let us know.
We'd be happy to quote on it for you.

Another example of an 'out of the square' project we handled recently was
this racing sports car. Believed to be a mid-50s 'Buckler', although it
could also be a Mistral, these cars were available as kits and ran on Ford
10 (Anglia/Popular/Prefect) chassis. Even the late/great Bruce McLaren raced
in one of these. This particular body had certainly been 'raced, rallied and
rolled' so our mission was to make a new deck lid and undertake repairs to
the nose cone. Will never be a show rod, but nice to be involved in some New
Zealand motor racing history.
